Foster's:
Please read all of the links on the left hand side and get familar with the different diseases and worms. Also feel free to call or e-mail us at anytime with any questions or concerns.
Once you have been approved for fostering with LBL Rescue, you will have to sign the Foster Contract, and you will also recieve a foster manual that should help answer a lot of your questions. We are also going to start receiving food from Hills Science Diet for a low cost of .25 cents per pound. You are welcome to buy your own dog/cat food where ever you want, but we will offer this discounted food to you only for the use of feeding our foster animals and your own personal animals. It is a lot cheaper than buying a bunch of food at the store and it is a really high quality dog/cat food.
Either way you buy your food, LBL Rescue can not reimburse you for your food or any other expense for the cared for animal unless prior approved and signed off for by one of the directors as stated in the foster contract. LBL Rescue will have the animal fully vetted, wormed, and spayed/neutered. If in an emergancy situtation the fostered animal has not yet been vetted, a director needs to be contacted so that LBL can get this animal taken care of. IT IS AGAINST THE CONTRACT FOR THE FOSTER TO TAKE THE ANIMAL AND HAVE ANYTHING DONE TO IT WITHOUT PRIOR APPROVAL AND SIGNATURE OF AN LBL RESCUE DIRECTOR! The Reason for this is that we do not want the foster to have to pay for anything for this fostered animal other than food.(Which we can provide at a VERY discounted rate through Hills Science Diet)
If a foster takes an LBL Rescue fostered animal to a vet or spends any money/charges any money for the fostered animal, the foster is responsible for paying that bill. NOT LBL Rescue. The only way around that is to clear it first and have it signed off for by an LBL Rescue Director. If an emergency situtation comes up and a fostered animal needs to see a vet, contact our foster coordinator, Audie Craft, and she will direct you as to which vet to take the animal to. If you do not clear this with Audie and which vet the animal is to go to, then YOU pay the bill.
Heartworm Prevention (once a month)
As a foster you will recieve with each pet, one month of heartworm prevention per pet for each month that they are in your care. The foster will be shown how to apply the first dose by the director, and then the foster will apply the monthly dose thereafter themselves.
Flea Prevention (once a month)
As a foster you will recieve with each pet, one month of flea prevention per pet for each month that they are in your care. The foster will be shown how to apply the first dose by the director, and then the foster will apply the monthly dose thereafter themselves.
Wormer
Your dog/cat will be wormed before you get it at least once, and will be wormed again 3 weeks after the first worming. This will be done by one of the directors ONLY, not the fosters. If you notice that your dog/cat is still having worms after being wormed twice, please contact one of the directors.
